What does "cleaned" mean in Mailchimp? - THE
CREATIVE
Doesn't matter if you're a heavy user or learning how to
use Mailchimp, managing your list of contacts is the most important factor for
making successful campaigns for the world of email marketing.
Below, you'll find out what clean means within
Mailchimp and why it is essential to the strategy of your campaign.
What are the benefits of clean contacts?
Cleaned contacts are addresses that bounced and therefore are
considered to be invalid. There are hard and soft bounces. What does
this mean?
Hard bounces
A hard bounce happens when an email has not been delivered. It
could be due to an unreliable address or server issue. If Mailchimp
detects the possibility of a hard bounce in an email, the program will make the
email address clean.
That's right, the email address won't receive any more emails
in the near future.
Soft
bounces
Soft bounces can occur if a temporary problem in the address
and the delivery is unsuccessful. It's the case with the mailbox that is
full or a typo, or an old email address.
If a soft bounce occurs, Mailchimp will attempt to deliver
the email. the place Mailchimp can send the email over the duration of three
days. If the bounce persists, the email address will be deemed clean
contact.
The majority of bounces occur because of a poor opt-in for
our double-opt-in implementation.
Why is it so
important to be aware of clean addresses by Mailchimp?
It is the only method to determine the effectiveness of a
campaign is to evaluate the success rate. When a marketing campaign has
completed an email, a report is produced by Mailchimp, which is where all its
major elements are examined.
This report will provide important information such as
the percentage of people who read your email and clicked on the most popular
links and the subscribers who had the highest number of opens and, most importantly
those who have unsubscribed and bounced, to mention just a few.
Clean addresses will not be included in any emails you'll
send in the near future so you could miss a significant portion of your target
audience.
How do you fix the error on a cleaned contact?
Contacts that have been cleaned can't be altered, however,
the updated mail address may be manually added to your list of contacts. The
process won't affect the monthly plans, as Mailchimp doesn't charge for clean
contacts.
