2021 iPhone Shock As Seven ‘All-New’ Apple iPhones Revealed
We already know a lot about Apple’s iPhone 13 range, including its subtle design changes and not-so-subtle new cameras. But now Apple has confirmed no fewer than seven new iPhone 13 models.
Apple has publicly entered official model numbers for the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 small, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database, according to Consomac (which has a history here). A2628, A2630, A2634, A2635, A2640, A2643, and A2645 are the model numbers, and they're a bit of a mystery.
Apple has traditionally divided its new iPhone models into distinct groups. The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 were designated as ‘A21xx' versions last year, while the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max were labelled as ‘A23xx' variants. ‘A24xx' was the code for international variations. This year, however, the surprise is that every iPhone 13 model begins with ‘A26xx,' and there aren't enough model numbers (seven) for each phone's US and international variants.
You would presume that the iPhone 12 Mini will not be available in all locations based on weak sales, but it's likely that the truth is more intriguing. As you progress up the range, there are clear couples, and given Apple's decision last year to give the iPhone 12 Pro Max extra treatment over the other models, it's possible that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has received the same treatment (possibly in terms of a higher-end 5G modem). Apple would then be able to build a genuinely global smartphone with only one SKU.
Of course, this is just conjecture on my part, and we have a lot more concrete information about the iPhone 13 range. Apple's promises to eliminate the notch and give all-new supersized rear cameras with enhanced image stabilization and larger Beamforming mics to reduce background noise when shooting video have all but been verified by leaked iPhone 13 schematics. Yes, it appears like this year will be a huge camera improvement year.
Aside from that, the new iPhone 13 models are rumored to include significantly larger batteries, a high-efficiency A15 CPU, up to 1TB of storage, and 120Hz ProMotion screens for the Pro variants. Apple is reportedly expected to release a pink variant, which would undoubtedly sell out quickly.
Furthermore, now that Apple has quietly acknowledged the existence of the iPhone 13 series, the good news is that they will be released much sooner than last year, with production "Ahead of Schedule." Start putting money aside now.
